Week 6 Alabama vs.. Ole Miss

OK Friends, It’s Alabama & Ole Miss.

This was supposed to be the battle for the SEC west title (Don’t make me laugh)! But to be fair, we will just have to wait & see.

Now to the game….

Alabama came out on their first drive and went 3 and out. Ole Miss took the ball and moved it down the field, but Justin Woodall intercepted Snead killing the Rebels drive. After Bama & the Rebels traded the ball back & forth, Bama moved the ball with runs by Ingram & Richardson, and passes to Peek and Jones. After their drive stalled, Bama kicked a 25yd field goal to take a 3-0 lead after the first quarter.

In the 2nd quarter, Alabama’s Arenas stopped the Ole Miss drive on the Ole Miss 30yd line. Bama didn’t move the ball much and Tippin kicked a 21yd field goal giving Bama a 6-0 lead. Later in the 2nd quarter Alabama had Ole Miss backed up deep in their own territory when Corey Reamer blocked a punt setting Bama up on Ole Miss’s side of the field.

But again, Bama had to settle for a 22yd field goal by Tippin. The score 9-0. As the half was running out, Bama with the ball, 4th and 1, Mark Ingram broke a 36yd run for a TD making the score 16-0 at the half.

Now the 2nd half….

Ole Miss got the ball to start the 3rd quarter but did nothing with it. Bama’s first drive in the 2nd half ended like it did to start the game, 3 and out. Ole Miss showed signs of life on their 2nd drive, but had to settle for a 25yd field goal, The score now: Bama 16-Ole Miss 3. Later in the 3rd quarter, Corey Reamer recovered a fumble on a punt and Bama drove the ball into the red-zone but had to kick a 26yd field goal, making the score 19-3.

In the 4th quarter, Ole Miss trying to get into the game, driving the ball into the red-zone when Kareem Jackson picked off Snead and returned it 79yds to the Ole Miss 20yd line.

But on the next play, Trent Richardson fumbled the ball. But again, Ole Miss could do nothing with the ball. Alabama would move the ball but didn’t score late in the 4th quarter. Ole Miss, again moving the ball, Snead throws an interception the Rolando McClain.

Bama moved down field where Tippin kicked a 31yd field goal to end all scoring, making the final 22-3.

In closing, today’s game was a bloodletting, with Alabama’s defense picking off Snead 4 times.

 

Alabama’s offense was not as strong as usual because they were in the red-zone 4 times and had to settle for 4 Leigh Tippin field goals.

But Mark Ingram had a great day with 173yds on the ground and one TD.

So now I hope that America can see that Ole Miss is not worth all of the hype they have gotten and realizes that the SEC west title runs through Tuscaloosa not Oxford. So Friends, have a great night and always remember …….

Week 6 Georgia vs.. Tennessee

Hello Friends!

Today I am talking Dawgs & Vols.

This is the first of three games I will cover this week, but now onto Georgia & Tennessee.

The Dawgs make a trip into Neyland Stadium to face a group of mad volunteers. The Dawgs coming off a heartbreaking loss to LSU and Tennessee coming off of a beat down by the Auburn Tigers. So, with this both teams will try to right the ship.

Well let the war begin!

Crompton and the Vols started fast, but could not score in the first quarter. The Dawgs, well what can I say, they started like they always do…..doing nothing! So, the first quarter ended 0-0.

In the 2nd quarter Tennessee moved the ball and the drive ended with Crompton hitting Gerald Jones on a 6 yd TD pass, to lead 7-0. Brandon Boykin did it again, returning a kickoff 100yds for a TD, tying the game 7-7. The Vols next drive ended with a 33yd pass from Crompton to Denarius Moore for a TD (TN 14- GA 7). GA had a drive that ended with a Blair Walsh 52yd FG, cutting into TNs lead 14-10. TN turned around and drove the ball back down the field, scoring a TD when Crompton hit Marsalis Teague on a 5yd pass to make the score 21-10. GA ended the half with a Safety against TN, making the half-time score 21-12.

Now the 2nd half!

TN moved the ball but had to settle for a 30yd field goal by Daniel Lincoln making the score 24-12. Later in the quarter, Crompton made the only mistake of the day, by throwing an interception to Bacarri Rambo, who returned it 28yds for a TD. (24-19 TN) As the 3rd quarter was running out Montario Hardesy broke a 39yd run for a TD. (31-19 TN) After stopping GA late in the 3rd quarter, Crompton hit Gerald Jones on a 51yd pass for a TD ending the 3rd quarter 38-19.

In the 4th quarter after trading possessions, TNs Bryce Brown ended a scoring drive with a 1yd TD run that ended all the scoring making the final score 45-19.

In closing, TN today not only beat the Dawgs but embarrassed the Dawgs. Jonathan Crompton had a great day going 20-27 for 310yds, 4TD, 1INT. And on the ground Montario Hardesty ran 20 times for 97yds and 1TD. The only thing that took away from a great win by TN was the fact that the Vol fans showed how classless they are by cheering when GAs Brandon Boykin was hurt in the game. Now Mark Richt and the Dawgs have a lot of work to do, and the first thing Coach Richt needs to do is fire Willie Martinez’s sorry a**! GAs defense couldn’t stop a peewee team.

Georgia Vs. LSU

Hello Friends! This week I am talking Dawgs & Tigers!

Well the Bayou Bengals came over to Athens between the hedges. LSU last week had to put up a great goal line stand to get out of Starkville, Mississippi alive. This week the Dawgs that they will be trying to tame will be a little better.

 

Lets talk about the 1st half. LSU dominated the time of possession and plays ran, but all LSU could do was score 2 field goals to take a 6-0 half-time lead. LSU should have probably been up 16-0 at the half, but Georgia’s defense played well on some plays. On the first drive of the game, LSU drove the ball down the field, when Jordan Jefferson threw an interception in the end zone to Brandon Boykin, who showed he was a freshman by trying to run it out.

Late in the half, Les Miles made the dumbest call any coach could have made. He tried to make a 1st down on 4th and inches, when the smart call would have been to kick the field goal to take a 9-0 lead at the half.

I guess you are wondering why I haven’t talked about the Dawgs. Well, there wasn’t really anything worth talking about. Joe Cox was cold out of the box and the running game was nonexistent. The only play worth mentioning was a 27yd pass to AJ Green.

Now for the 2nd half…

LSU got the ball and the Dawgs defense shut the door on them. For the most part, GA took control of the game in the 3rd quarter, but still scored no points. It wasn’t until the 4th quarter that the Dawgs cracked the scoreboard, when Joe Cox threw a 1yd pass to Shaun Chapas for a TD. The Dawgs led 7-6. It wasn’t until late in the 4th quarter with 2min 53sec left in the game that Charles Scott had a 2yd run for a go-ahead TD. LSU tried a 2pt conversion, but came up short, but ahead on the scoreboard 12-7.

Now Joe Cox and the Bulldogs (1min 9sec left) went down and scored on a TD pass to AJ Green. But the Dawgs missed a 2pt conversion but led the game 13-12.

It seemed Joe Cox had grown up and led the Dawgs to a big win against LSU, but LSU took the ball after the kickoff and Charles Scott broke Dawg fans hearts with a 33yd TD. This time the 2pt conversion was good giving the Tigers a 20-13 win.

In closing, this game was a thriller until the end but you hate to see anyone loose. Jordan Jefferson was 18 for 27 for 212yds and 1 INT. Charles Scott ran 19 times for 95yds and 2 TD. Joe Cox was 18 for 34 for 229yds, 2TD & 1INT. AJ Green caught 5 passes for 99yds and 1TD. I know someone has to loose because a tie is like kissing your sister. But a bright point for GA is they may have found them a new running back with Washan Ealey, a true freshman who ran 8 times for 32yds. He gave the Dawgs a spark in their running game.

Alabama vs. Arkansas

Hello Friends! It’s football time in T-town.

The hogs came a callin’ hoping not to be the main course. Ryan Mallett, the 6’7 QB, comes off of a 400yd game where he torched a Georgia secondary, but today he will face a herd of big red elephants.

The first quarter was a feeling out process, where both teams traded possessions. Late in the first quarter, Arkansas at 4th down pulled off a fake punt deep in their own territory for a 1st down but the drive stalled.

After the stop, Bama drove the ball down the field with passes to the TE, Colin Peek, and runs from Mark Ingram & Trent Richardson and the Tide got rolling. Richardson ended the drive with a 52 yard run for a TD.

Mid way through the 2nd quarter, Nick Saban, borrowed a play from Bobby Petrino’s playbook, running double reverse flea flicker. Greg McElroy hit Julio Jones on a 50yd pass for a TD, making the score 14-0 late in the half.

The only time Arkansas got close to Bama was in the 3rd quarter. Arkansas mustered up a 5 play drive for 55yds when Mallett hit Greg Childs for an 18yd TD.

Now lets talk about Arkansas’ overall stats for the game. Mallett didn’t have a bad game, but his recievers dropped too many passes. Had they caught more passes, Arkansas may have gotten out of T-town with a better showing. Mallett was 12 for 35, for 160yds, 1 TD & 1 INT, which James Woodall picked off and ran back for 23yds. The hogs ground game was nothing to write home about. The leading rusher was senior, Michael Smith, who had 12 carries for 61yds.  The hogs defense has all kinds of problems. Although Arkansas played the run pretty good, they were roasted with the pass.

Now for the Alabama stats!

Greg McElroy had a career high, 291yds passing. He was 17 for 24 and 3TD. McElroy hit Marquis Mays on a record setting 80yd pass for a TD. The Tide ground game was ok. The leading rusher was Trent Richardson (9 carries for 64 yds & 1TD).

Now the defense was better than ok. The defense put pressure on Mallett all day. Arenas had 2 sacks and Lorenzo Washington came up with a blocked punt, that allowed McElroy to hit Ingram for a 14yd pass that led to a Bama score. James Woodall had the only turnover, a 23yd interception.

FINAL SCORE: 35-7

In closing, today’s game was a normal day @ the office for Bama. They probably could have scored more points on the hogs than they did but why do that? They don’t want to be known as the Florida of the SEC west. They have more class than that.

Week 4 Carolina vs. Ole Miss

Hello again friends!

This week we're talking Ole Miss & South Carolina.

All of America wants to know.......

IS OLE MISS FOR REAL?

Well if you are asking me, I don't think so.

I'd have to see Ole Miss beat a good team.

If they can go into the poulty farm in Columbia, SC and get a win from the evil genius, I will believe.

You have to be a fan of the SEC to appreciate the type of game these two played.

For the most part, it was a defensive game for 3 1/2 quarters.

Like most games, both teams came out like prize fighters trading blows.

Ole Miss seemed to get the first good punch in by forcing a turnover.

Ole Miss moved the ball down the field but the chickens defense bowed up and forced them into a field goal, the only Ole Miss points for the first half.

Jeven Snead, "all world QB", had the people of Oxford having visions of Ole Miss legends Archie & Eli Manning, thinking that he was going to lead them to an SEC West title.

Well Folks!

So far Snead is not living up to the hype.

He was 4 for 10 for 41 yards in the first half.

PITIFUL!

Now let's talk about SC.

Steven Garcia has shown lots of inprovement from last year, throwing for 220yds and 1 TD in the 3rd quarter by throwing a little dump pass to the FB Demarco.

He has learned to be patient and look for his recievers instead of automatically pulling the ball down and running with it.

My only problem with Garcia is that he seems to want to zero in on the big reciever Gurley instead of looking for his other recievers like Mo Brown & his big TE Saunders.

In the first half, Carolina drove the ball 3 times into the Red Zone but could only come away with 3 field goals.

All people know that if you get in the Red Zone, atleast 1/2 the time you will be able to score a touch down.

But if you constantly commit stupid penalties while in the Red Zone, regardless of who you are, you are going to have to settle for field goals.

Carolina's defense (especially Norwood & Matthews) pressured Snead all night. Norwood, who had 2 sacks, set the all time sack record @ Carolina.

If you ask me, Ole Miss' critical error this game was their biggest player in the game turned out to be the one they used the least.

McCluster, a little water bug, gashed SC's defense in the 4th quarter.

Now why the Right Reverand, Houston Nutt, didn't use the boy more is beyond me because it was obvious that Snead was not getting the job done with the pass.

By running the ball, Ole Miss actually made the game look closer than it really was.

Final Score 16-10.

In closing, Ole Miss is nothing more than a pretender, not a contender.

In my opinion, they are not even a Top 25 team.

South Carolina on the other hand is a Top 25 team.

Granted only 4th in the SEC East, but then things can change.

So for now, I will bid you a goodnight.

Tennessee vs. Florida

First of all let me take a moment to apologize in advance...

I am sure that you are sick of hearing about Tennessee vs. Florida as am I,

but bear with me a moment.

The game today was supposed to be a blowout.

However much to the surprise of Commentators & Florida fans...

Florida actually had to work their gator tails off today.

Florida found out today that playing high school teams did NOTHING to prepare them for this season, it only cushioned their stats & served to help dissapoint Gator fans everywhere.

The Florida offense was let down when "Superman" lost his luster when he couldn't fulfill his stat for throwing atleast one TD a game.

Nor does Florida have a wide reciever capable of stretching the defense down the field.

One of the few things Florida still has going for them are their Running Backs.

Demps & Rainey were Gator fans saving grace, helping to squeak out a 23-13 win against Tennessee.

Florida's defense is the highlight of the team. They hit hard, try to rip the ball out and their defensive backs can actually catch a football. Since Florida can't seem to find their reciever, let's hope their running game stands up or their defense is their only hope of winning.

Although Urban Meyers is a pretty good coach....

He is also quite possibly the biggest jerk in NCAA football.

If he had the oppourtunity to run up the score on Tennessee today he would have. And if you don't believe me just ask Georgia!

Now let's talk about someone fighting for the Jerk of Football Title. Obviously outdone by Urban Meyers, one can't help but notice that Lane Kiffin resembles a young Steve Spurrier. Young, Brash, Cocky but smart. I am sure in the future we will look back and say he did a good job for Tennessee but for now let's talk about the present.

Young Mr. Kiffin has put together an All Star coaching staff led by his Daddy, Monte on defense.

Which will turn out to be Tennessee's strong point, led by Eric Berry, who is clearly the frontrunner of Tennessee's defense.

Their weakness is their lack of a quarterback, or atleast one worth mentioning. Like Florida, if you play a high school team to start your season you will obviously look like a superstar.

But once you actully play a team worth playing, like UCLA, you can see clearly through the smoke & mirrors.

Mr. Compton has already thrown several interceptions (8 I think).

Is this miscommunication, lack of skill, or is the boy colorblind?

Let me atleast congratulate Tennessee for their effort against Florida. Not getting blown out by Florida shows me that those boys atleast take pride in what they are doing.

And in closing, before Tennessee & Florida fans bring it up. Yes Alabama played two high school teams, but they opened up with a Top 10 team and dominated them.
